The “Salzburger Festspiele” Festival – the director of the Salzburg Festival Max Reinhardt, the composer Richard Strauss and the poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal founded the world-famous Festival for opera, concert and theatre in the 1920s. With this, the city of Salzburg gained yet another cultural and international highlight. In the last days of July and over the whole of August, there are about 170 events with over 210,000 visitors. As well as the great classical operas and theatrical productions, major contemporary works are also shown every year.

Well-polished slides lead you from one level of the mine into the other deep in the heart of the mountain.
