A glance from the window reveals the exclusive location of the "Sacher": The hotel is situated in the heart of Vienna, close to the bustling "Ringstraße" and a wide array of impressive sights. The magnificent buildings dating back to imperial times lend it its unmistakable flair. Located between the State Opera and the famous shopping street, Kärntner Straße which leads directly to Vienna’s major landmark, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Sacher is simply the best address for immersing into the metropolitan flair and for walking around and discovering the most beautiful spots of the city.

By car:
No matter which direction you come from, always follow the signs to the city centre, indicated in German as "Zentrum" or "Stadtmitte".
From the airport:
Follow the A4 motorway to Wien Zentrum, (Vienna city centre), along Schüttelstraße and Untere Donaustraße. Turn left on Aspernbrücke, a bridge heading towards the Urania, a movie theatre and planetarium, which will be on your left. Drive straight into the Ringstraße, a major road with tram tracks at the side until you reach the Opera House, the Staatsoper, where you turn right. Turn left ahead of the pedestrian zone and the Hotel Sacher will be on your right.
Coming from the southern motorway:
Follow the A2 until Inzersdorf, exit on Triesterstraße, heading towards Wien Zentrum (Vienna city centre). Drive along Margarethengürtel, at the square, Matzleinsdorferplatz, turn into Wiedner Hauptstraße. Cross two intersections, turn right into Mayerhofgasse and left into Favoritenstraße. You will see signs for Zentrum. Cross the Ringstraße into Kärntner Straße. Turn left ahead of the pedestrian zone and the Hotel Sacher will be on your right.
Coming from the western motorway:
When you exit the A4, follow the signs towards Wien Zentrum (Vienna city centre), drive past Schönbrunn Castle, cross the Gürtel, a major ring-road circling the city, and stay on the Rechte Wienzeile until you reach Kunsthalle. Turn left into Kärntner Straße, cross the Ringstraße (the Opera House is on your left) and take a left ahead of the pedestrian zone. The Hotel Sacher will be on your right.
By public transport
From the airport:
Every thirty minutes there is a bus shuttle-service from the airport to Schwedenplatz. Change onto the U4 underground train heading towards Hütteldorf and get off at Karlplatz/Oper. Take the exit labelled Oper – Kärntner Straße. Behind the Opera House is the Hotel Sacher.
Every thirty minutes, trains of the City Air Terminal (CAT) run from the airport to the train station Landstraße / Wien Mitte. The trip takes 16 minutes.
Change into the U4 underground train heading towards Hütteldorf and get off at Karlplatz/Oper. Take the exit labelled Oper – Kärntner Straße. Behind the Opera House is the Hotel Sacher. When you return, you can check in your luggage at the CAT terminal. The Sacher is a 5 to 10 minute taxi ride away from Wien Mitte.
Arriving at Westbahnhof train station:
Take the U3 underground train heading towards Simmering and get off at Stephansplatz. Now you can either walk for about seven minutes along Kärntner Straße and find the Sacher opposite the Opera House, or you can change into the U1 underground train and get off at Karlplatz/Oper. Take the exit labelled Oper – Kärntner Straße. Behind the Opera House is the Hotel Sacher.
There is also an inexpensive regular train leaving for Wien Mitte, in the city centre every half an hour. The trip takes about 25 minutes.
